Tirapelles to Headline Illinois Coaches Clinic on Nov. 7-8 State-Champion Coach Steve, Former Illini National Champion Adam to Appear at Clinic

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Steve Tirapelle, coach of two-time California state champion Clovis High School, and former Illini national champion Adam Tirapelle will be the special guests at the Fighting Illini Wrestling Coaches Clinic on Nov. 7-8, Illinois wrestling head coach Mark Johnson announced Monday. Clinic participants will be able to attend a pair of clinic sessions, the Illinois wrestle-offs on Nov. 8 and a social event on the evening of Nov. 7.

The Illinois wrestling coaching staff of former Olympian Johnson and former NCAA champions Jim Heffernan, Carl Perry and Jeremy Hunter will conduct the clinic with assistance from Steve and Adam Tirapelle. In addition to coaching Clovis to eight top-five finishes, including state titles in 2008 and 2003, Steve is the developer of the Tirapelle System of Wrestling, which is renowned for producing champions across the country. Adam was a three-time All-American at Illinois, the 2001 Illinois Athlete of the Year and holds school records for career and season pins.
