FIGHTING ILLINI WRESTLING

Tirapelles to Headline Illinois Coaches Clinic on Nov. 7-8 State-Champion Coach Steve, Former Illini National Champion Adam to Appear at Clinic

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Steve Tirapelle, coach of two-time California state champion Clovis High School, and former Illini national champion Adam Tirapelle will be the special guests at the Fighting Illini Wrestling Coaches Clinic on Nov. 7-8, Illinois wrestling head coach Mark Johnson announced Monday. Clinic participants will be able to attend a pair of clinic sessions, the Illinois wrestle-offs on Nov. 8 and a social event on the evening of Nov. 7.

The Illinois wrestling coaching staff of former Olympian Johnson and former NCAA champions Jim Heffernan, Carl Perry and Jeremy Hunter will conduct the clinic with assistance from Steve and Adam Tirapelle. In addition to coaching Clovis to eight top-five finishes, including state titles in 2008 and 2003, Steve is the developer of the Tirapelle System of Wrestling, which is renowned for producing champions across the country. Adam was a three-time All-American at Illinois, the 2001 Illinois Athlete of the Year and holds school records for career and season pins.

Bronze Coaches Clinic

There are not a lot of these coaches clinics that are taught through out the year. If you can make this date work, I’d think hard about trying to make it out there…

WRESTLINGGEAR.COM ANNOUNCES FALL CLINIC TO HELP COACHES “GET READY FOR THE MAT!”

Elmhurst, IL – September 22, 2008 – WrestlingGear.Com is working with youth, high school and college coaches to put together a unique program to help coaches “Get Ready for the Mat!” In addition to several sessions on technique, there will be sessions on how coaches can improve their team’s results both on and off the mat.

“I think we have put together a unique program of coaches and wrestling leaders who will talk about ideas on building a program like drills for practice, motivating athletes and team building. It won’t be just another technique clinic. Also, coaches will be able to visit tables of wrestling top manufacturers. Matman, adidas, Asics, Brute are planning on attending our clinic.”

All the proceeds from the clinic will be given to The Smile Train, an organization that helps kids with cleft lips. A cleft lip is a condition where the top of the lip does not form properly during pregnancy. A cleft lip can be corrected with surgery. WrestlingGear.Com has already raised over $10,000 since we started working with The Smile Train.

“We are looking forward to helping kids who were born with a cleft lip that might otherwise have to live with this fixable facial birth defect. With our National website and our local clinic we can help build awareness about cleft lips and help raise money to help children,” says Jeff Pape, owner of WrestlingGear.Com, whose son was born with a cleft lip.

Returning speakers will include Mike Bukovsky, Head Coach Montini Catholic and Israel Martinez of Izzy Style wrestling. Israel was a five time IKWF State Champion and 3 time IHSA State Champion. New this year is Mike Krause of the Cliff Keen Next Level Wrestling Academy.
